Alex + Tumblr
My name is Alex and, from time to time, I have things to share. Most of the time, this is where that stuff ends up. Enjoy.

I miss Louis.

Google’s Chrome OS is gonna be great, but not popular, at first.

So I finally got to play with Chrome OS and I like it. The concept of an OS that’s essentially “just the Internet parts” is great.

The only problem is that I don’t think people are ready to let go of the idea of traditional desktop experience. People want their AIM/iTunes/etc. Not saying that Chrome won’t offer web app replacements for these, but it’ll take a while to adjust.

I predict this will be HUGE for businesses that rely on web-based or browser-based “software”, primarily. This will also be great for schools, I’d think, too.

There’s no doubt that the future of computing is in web apps. I’ve used Google Docs over MS Office for years, now. To a lesser, but notable extent, I’ve opted for Flickr over iPhoto, Pandora over iTunes, and even Hulu over torrenting shows.

My only gripe I can foresee is the lack of connection in many areas.

But who knows… maybe we’ll finally see a rise in popularity for those PC data cards.

Phoenix perform “1901” outdoors in Paris for passersby. Pretty cool.

About computers...

I wish computers would just work correctly without me having to waterboard it’s friends to get it to cooperate…

…but that’s just not the world we live in, anymore.

Allison Weiss - “Unicorns & Marshmallows”

So this one time I promised my Kickstarter backers I’d write a song about unicorns and marshmallows. Took me all summer to get it done, but I did it! It’s a semi-serious love song because THATS WHAT I DO. I recorded it myself in Logic so excuse the poor quality (unless you think it sounds great, in which case thanks for acknowledging my skills)!

So yeah, let’s continue to celebrate my album release through massive amounts of Tumblogging!

I seem to be on a Beastie Boys kick, lately. No complaints.
